Worth revisiting at the midway point of the series…
Next Week: S5 E24 “Joint Custody” (5/2/84)

“Let’s Face The Facts” has completed its analysis every episode (and all 3 TV movies) from “The Facts Of Life!” We are no longer producing new episodes.
My name is David Almeida, and I love the 1980s sitcom “The Facts Of Life.” From 2018 to 2023, I watched and analyzed every episode (and all 3 TV movies!) of this incredible series, joined by my friend/co-host Matthew Arter. All 229 episodes are available here and on all major podcast apps/platforms.
Still want more? From 2023 to 2024 we did 50 episodes of "TV Talkaholics," a Facts-Of-Life-adjacent podcast in which we re-watched and analyzed TV series, specials, and movies featuring cast members from the show. (More info at tvtalkaholics.com.)
Thank you to all of our devoted listeners over the years! And remember: The Facts Of Life Are All About YOU.
Worth revisiting at the midway point of the series…

They’ve published these before, pics of celebrities photoshopped with their younger selves. This is the latest from BoredPanda.Com.
But when I saw the pic of George Clooney with his “younger” self - playing Dr. Doug Ross on ER ca. 1994 at age 33… I was like WTF?!?! Why wouldn’t they have used one of the many existing pics of Clooney from The Facts Of Life in 1985 when he was 24?!
And look in the commments! Even famous American author Dorothy Parker, who died in 1967, came back from the dead to express this very same opinion!
So, once again, it’s up to ME to fix everything. (*Comes down off cross, walks over to Photoshop on his laptop*) Here. You’re welcome.

Yeah, it seems like eons ago, but I only recently learned that the Chug-A-Lug I.D. Checker in Season 2 Episode 1 [“The New Girl (Part 1)” from 11/19/1980] was played by actor Reb Brown, who just the previous year had starred in TWO made-for-TV Captain America movies. In the title role of Steve Rogers/Captain America! The first was called simply Captain America, and was broadcast by CBS on January 19, 1979. The second film called Captain America II: Death Too Soon was broadcast ten months later on November 23 & 24, 1979 in two 1-hour installments. An interesting trivia bit from IMDb: “According to Red Brown at Comic-Con, the studios were planning two crossover movies. Captain America (Reb Brown) and Spider-Man (Nicholas Hammond) from The Amazing Spider-Man (1977). The second was Captain America (Brown) and Lou Ferrigno/Bill Bixby from The Incredible Hulk (1978). Unfortunately, neither of these ever materialized.”
Why, it was the MCU that never was!
And now, I discover he has collided with the FOLCU! YAY!

Dedicated Listener and Devoted Tootie Fruity Amy W recently contacted me with what I will call a “Facts Fan Find!”
In her own words: “One criticism of the TV show that I haven’t heard mentioned on LFTF, is that Jo, being a tomboy — with those lovely nails! Always a manicure; long, and painted nails. Nancy often hide her nails in pockets, curling her fingers in, or crossing her arms. Does anyone else notice this? … I wanted to mention this to you in hopes I am not the only fan who has noticed this distraction. I wish the producers (or whomever) told Nancy to get fake nails, and remove them when filming. It breaks her ‘tough street kid’ character each time I see those glamorous nails.”
Well, I had NEVER noticed this! So I asked Amy to send some screen grabs, and sure enough she did!
Has any of you ever noticed this? Please let me know if you have! Rest assured, this is something I will be keeping an eye on, since some of these are from future episodes. THANKS, AMY!

(And, by the way, I did explain to Amy that on one hand, it could be argued this is contrary to the arguments in favor of Jo’s lesbianism… but on the other hand, lesbians are also known for keeping their nails well-groomed… because they, um, use their fingers… during intimacy… need I say more? You’re Welcome!)

The message reads “Dear Diana: Those were the days. Thank God we got to come out of the Valley. Oh, and Mack loves you, too. Patty Duke.” (Mack = her son Mackenzie Astin who played Andy on The Facts of Life and whom Diana costumed in seasons 7, 8, and 9.) Forgotten TV is an AWESOME in-depth podcast, and creator Chris Cooling does a MAJOR DEEP DIVE into the 1983-1984 TV Show “Whiz Kids” (which was in development before “WarGames” was released), and was one of the first shows that dealt with teenagers & computers. In “Supplemental Episode #6,” he covers the stories of real-life computer hackers from those early days and the trouble they got themselves into. I highly recommend it!
