“Let’s Face The Facts” has completed its analysis every episode (and all 3 TV movies) from “The Facts Of Life!” We are no longer producing new episodes.
My name is David Almeida, and I love the 1980s sitcom “The Facts Of Life.” From 2018 to 2023, I watched and analyzed every episode (and all 3 TV movies!) of this incredible series, joined by my friend/co-host Matthew Arter. All 229 episodes are available here and on all major podcast apps/platforms.
Still want more? From 2023 to 2024 we did 50 episodes of "TV Talkaholics," a Facts-Of-Life-adjacent podcast in which we re-watched and analyzed TV series, specials, and movies featuring cast members from the show. (More info at tvtalkaholics.com.)
Thank you to all of our devoted listeners over the years! And remember: The Facts Of Life Are All About YOU.
Check out all of his different talents at karlanthonyactor.com!
Join David & Matthew & special (returning) guest KEVIN KRIEGEL!
Thanks to Tootie Fruity Helen M for finding this!
And while we’re on the subject… Listener Trisha G found this one and sent it along. Clearly a part of the same campaign:
And a flashback to when the teacher was a student…

As discussed, here are screen grabs of the odd visual shift that occurs at 19:50. Notice that the picture quality suddenly goes from cool & dull to saturated & bright. Looking at the positioning of the hair & clothing, to me they appear same enough that it’s not an edit between the rehearsal taping and the broadcast taping… WHAT HAPPENED!? These pictures may be a little more exaggerated than the images you see on DailyMotion - I have a weird digital collection converted from recordings on Canadian TV. But it is still definitely there. And noticeable on the DVD. We have NEVER seen anything technically weird like this on the show before… WTF?!

Way-Back-When, he pointed out that this set from “The Golden Girls” looks very similar to the girls’ dorm rooms in season 1.
And he also sent this: “The charred Edna's edibles sign that Charlotte Rae kept after the season 7 premiere.”
Um, she didn’t “miss” or “walk out” of those last 6 episodes… she missed them because she arranged to only do 20 episodes in season 6, and she walked out with full permission and fulfillment of her obligations to the show. WTF, journalism?
This one is interesting because Season 7 was 24 episodes, and if you do the math, the article below reveals Charlotte Rae’s salary was apparently $75,000 per episode. Good for her! (And good that she decided to stay one more season.)
Check out this list of featured released in 1984. It was a very big year. (Matthew and I discussed a lot of these at the beginning of Season 6.)
Friends reacted to seeing her pop up in the finale of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” on Disney+:
As you can see, I am VERY impressed with Matthew’s Emmy.

Cut #1 may sound a little familiar…
See the similarity to Ace Frehley’s costume?

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Matthew Arter returns for the exciting conclusion!

More recent photos… STILL so bloody handsome
Sadly, the pandemic canceled Fringe 2020, but he hopes to bring it back to town someday soon. (graphic design by… ME!)

The 1963 original hit version by The Crystals. The 1976 WTF version by Laverne & Shirley. And the 1977 SMASH-HIT version by Shaun Cassidy.
Now this is David, Shaun, and Patrick (everybody BUT Ryan, who appears on TFOL)… but it’s super cute and cool to have all 3 of the ‘stage’ Cassidys performing together. [ THIS IS AUDIO ONLY WITH STILL PHOTOS ]
Young Ryan Cassidy with his mother, Shirley Jones, and older brothers Shaun and Patrick.
More recent photos of Shirley Jones and sons plus stepson David.
About three minutes into this excerpt from her episode of This Is Your Life, Shirley Jones is surrounded by her family: Husband Jack Cassidy standing at far right (cigarette in hand - LMAO), and her sons, including 5-year-old Ryan in front (in navy blue jacket).
I must admit it wasn’t as bad this week. But 2 episodes ago (S6 E14 “Me And Eleanor”) it was PARTICULARLY mullet-y. And I think it strongly resembles the look David Spade sported as Joe Dirt, don’t you?
